About The Freemasons and Grand Charity

The Freemasons Grand Charity is a grant-making charity dedicated to supporting people in need.The charity was established in 1980 and since then it has donated over 100 million to a range of charitable causes.

A legacy of giving

The Freemasons Grand Charity has been donating to the British Red Cross since 1984. Over the course of this 30-year partnership; has contributed funds to help us respond to a huge range of emergencies.

After a grant to help the people of Vanuatu – whose communities were devastated by Hurricane Pam – The Freemasons Grand Charity surpassed the 2 million giving landmark.

Supporting our work at home and abroad

The Freemasons has supported our response to many emergencies and disasters. These include:

  • the Nepal earthquake
  • UK floods
  • the Asian tsunami;
  • earthquakes in New Zealand, Haiti and Chile.

Emergency response vehicles

The Freemasons Grand Charity also supports our work in the UK by providing a number of emergency response vehicles which help people hit by a crisis. These fully equipped vehicles are vital in helping our volunteers reach people in crisis.

A shared focus

Mike Adamson, chief executive at the Red Cross, said:

The partnership between The Freemasons Grand Charity and the British Red Cross highlights the impact two organisations with a shared focus and a drive for change can have on the lives of people in need.

The consistent support of the Freemasons has allowed us to plan and shape our services so we are able to live up to our promise refusing to ignore people in crisis both in the UK, and abroad.

We are lucky to have such dedicated support, and I look forward to continuing our partnership.
