The Invisible College has issued 4 documents which have analysed the position of the non Spanish nationals within the Grand Lodge of Spain. The College has tried to explain who these Brethren are, what their role is within the Grand Lodge of Spain and what is expected of them as members of the Grand Lodge of Spain. Also the College has asked them to take certain actions and roles to improve the Grand Lodge of Spain.
These are the documents the Invisible College has presented.: 1.- An open letter to all the members of the Grand Lodge of Spain. 2.- A petition for the resignation of the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Spain and a call for elections. 3.- Too much confidence. 4.- In the words of others.
The Invisible College is aware that non Spanish nationals within the Grand Lodge of Spain are changing their position from unconditional support for the person who at the moment is Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Spain towards a position of questioning his ability and aptitude to hold the rank. The belief is growing that this person, by his actions and because of his personality, is not fit to hold the rank he holds of Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Spain. The Invisible College believes that the Grand Master has used his influence, his entitlement to bestow honours and his “Clown like” “Good mate” act at Masonic events and Masonic meetings to convince some Brethren to support him when, in the cold light of day, they would never have done so.
There is no bad feeling or hostility against non Spanish nationals within the Grand Lodge of Spain. NOBODY must think this even though the Grand Master and his propaganda machine may suggest such feeling exists. The Invisible College has made repeated calls asking for unity, fraternity and regularity amongst ALL the Brethren of the Grand Lodge of Spain, something which does not exist under the present leadership. In fact, it appears to the Invisible College that, the present Grand Master and his cohorts are carrying out an age old dictatorial method of controlling the majority which is “to divide and rule!”
The Invisible College is shocked by the repeated attacks of the Grand Master and his propaganda machine on Brethren who have served the Grand Lodge of Spain, their Provinces, their lodges and the collateral orders so well in the past. The threat of possible suspension of entire lodges, the suspension of individual masons without charge or recourse and so many cases started but not completed within the Masonic justice system indicates the irregular nature of the present Grand Master and the way he is leading the Grand Lodge of Spain.
It appears to the Invisible College that this situation will eventually be resolved in one of two ways.
The first possible solution is that the majority of Brethren within the Grand Lodge of Spain , regardless of nationality or ritual practiced, withdraw their support of the present Grand Master, demand his resignation and vote in the Grand Conclave and Grand Assembly for fresh elections so that we can maintain the regularity of the Grand Lodge of Spain.
The second solution will be for the regularity and recognition of the Grand Lodge of Spain to be withdrawn by other Grand Lodges for a period of time until the Brethren of the Grand Lodge of Spain resolve the problems created by the actual Grand Master and once again the Grand Lodge of Spain can be recognised as a regular Grand Lodge by the rest of the Masonic world.
The National Grand Lodge of France (Grande Loge Nationale Française – GLNF) went through such a process in the past and is now once again recognised as a regular Grand Lodge. In fact, it was at the ceremony of recognising the “new, improved, regular” National Grand Lodge of France and its new Grand Master that the Pro Grand Master of the UGLE reminded the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Spain that he was just the Secretary, the person who takes minutes and sends out summonses, for the World Congress of Masonry and not its leader as he had pretended to be. The ego of the present Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Spain knows NO limits!!!
For the Invisible College, the best solution is that we resolve our problems without losing our regularity. For this we must all withdraw our support for the present Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Spain and elect a new Grand Master who will lead a reform of the Grand Lodge of Spain so the present situation can never be repeated. The danger is that we are not capable of achieving this fundamental change before the Grand Lodge of Spain collapses and falls into disarray. This in turn could lead to the Grand Lodge of Spain being declared irregular until the internal problems are resolved. Though this danger exists, it is our obligation to make these changes NOW!
For those who think there will be a void and lack of leadership if the present Grand Master is forced to resign, they should have no fear. There are many good masons with a firm belief in masonic ethics, morality, fraternity, relief and truth, who will not work with the present Grand Master on any account. Once the present Grand Master is forced to leave office, these brothers are more than ready and qualified to step forward and help implement the changes needed so that the Grand Lodge of Spain becomes once again an honourable and regular masonic institution.
The Invisible College believes that any newly elected Grand Master must sign a code of ethics, be totally transparent and of good and unquestionable conduct. He must be governed by the decisions of the Grand Assembly and most of all be regular in every way so that, by combined effort and by working together in harmony and fraternity, the Brethren can save the Grand Lodge of Spain.
Fraternal greetings, The Invisible College
